- Math TAKS ~ April 8th. The students took their time and I hope their efforts will be rewarded. FL promised them the moon if they had 80% or more pass. Math has kept us from 'exemplary status' in the past.
- Science Expo ~ April 12th. The five middle schools in our area participated in a competition ending with: 'Are You Smarter Than An Eighth Grader?' The students were pitted against the school board and were quite successful. Our campus placed in the top three for all categories and placed second in total points scored. The whole point of the day was basically a TAKS review since Science seems to be the bane of our existence.
- Social Studies ~ Tutoring began in earnest. We had 53 show up the first day! Nothing like offering snacks to entice (bribery) participation. The average attendance is 35-40 ~ not too shabby, I must say. When we looked at the data from our benchmark exam, Ms. Perky and I are within a percentage point of each other. I sure hope that this will translate into success on TAKS; we know we have taught the material, it's up to the kiddos to produce.
- Zumba ~ This is an aerobics class using all genres of Latin dance music which is offered 2x a week after school. Even FL has joined the class!!! The charge is only $3 a session and we get our money's worth. The benefits are priceless; I am sleeping better at night.
That's all for now...
