A clarification of "We the people..."

If you queried the average American as to the type of government we have here, the typical response would be: democracy. Whom am I kidding, I'd be lucky to get that! The more likely response would be a shrug of the shoulders. Anywho, democracy would be incorrect, we have a republic.
