“Uh, Mom, what’s with the water in the driveway?” Considering I had been outside less than an hour before, I was quite puzzled. Curiosity getting the better of me, I ventured out to investigate. I now have a gurgling brook in the middle of the driveway, flowing out into the street. A phone call to the water district: “Yeah, we know, we’ll be there soon.”
I don’t know what your definition of *soon* is but I don’t think it means 2.5 hours later. A nice worker pulled up and confirmed the worst. A water main had burst due to the drought we are having here. He assured me that I was NOT responsible for paying for the extensive damage to repair the pipe or the driveway. This was @ 10:30 am. I just arrived home from church @ 2:00 pm. They have just shut off the water and are in the process of breaking up my driveway. Wonder how long this is going to take? Not to mention that I have to park further away ~ the exercise will be good for me.
We desperately need RAIN, a good old fashioned soaking ~ anyone for a rain dance or two?

OMG don't even get me started on SAWS (San Antonio Water Systems) and thier partner in crime.. CPS (AKA City Public Service)... CPS was installing new wiring on our street, and THEY broke 2 water mains. At the time we were under water restrictions (due to drought), no watering the lawn.. no washing the car... you get the drift. HOWEVER it was perfectly fine for 500 gallons per second of good clean water gushing out of each busted main ....for 12 hours!!! We could not even get them to come here to turn it off... Just makes you want to scream bloody murder! But boy howdy if we had been caught watering the lawn.. or washing the car.. we would have been fined!! But NOOOO they can wait 12 hours to come fix 2 broken mains!!!
