ping pong

This is not about the world championships of the game, rather it is the continuing saga known as my life!

Remember the beginning of the school year with drama, then it subsided? Well, the drama has returned ten-fold. Why, ba, whatever do you mean? Keep reading...

FL sent me an email last Friday (11-09) saying he wanted to meet with me and a couple other teachers. It was quite odd as the other two were Science teachers and I teach SS. I patiently waited for his highness (15 min.) after school and he approached with a smirk and said, "How have you enjoyed having 1st period off?" Before I could respond, he said it was just a rhetorical query and invited me in to the inner sanctum.

"Ms. BA I need your help, blah, blah, blah." I cannot write here what was said (cover my a**) but here is the result of said meeting. I have been 'rewarded' for being a loyal employee ~ I was given back that 6th grade SS class. FL said not to worry about lesson plans, I could borrow from Teacher X. Yup, the SAME idiot who got booted to 6th 'cuz he stinks as a teacher. WTF! The look on my face told FL what I thought of that notion. I told FL that I would contact our specialist before I would EVER ask Teacher X for plans! Well, it's back to traversing the entire campus ~ guess I need to get ready for the Christmas holidays by walking more to offset any eating splurges. Yup, that has to be it, why else??

The move went into effect on Tuesday and I exercised my right to protest as allowed by the First Amendment. There was a half-day pullout session that day for 6th grade SS teachers but I did not attend. A fellow colleague asked if I was going and when I said no, she then wanted to know if I was even aware of the class. Duh, I told her that since I am department chair, I was well aware of what was happening. She then surmised correctly that I was not going in protest ~ but don't misunderstand me. I don't make it a habit not to attend staff development; I feel that 8th grade is my #1 priority, thanks to NCLB and TAKS and will atttend any class pertaining to that content. Also, I have friends that got me the materials from the session so I really didn't miss a thing and I could be on campus with 8th grade.

I am extremely overwhelmed and so thankful for this break even though I may go by the campus next week so I can file papers and straigthen out my desk. When you put in 10 - 12 hour days, it's hard to keep stuff neat and organized.

ttfn,
~ba~

I have a hard time with keeping things neat, and 9th graders are pigs to start with so my room never stays neat for long. Good luck with that 6th grade class...
