what can 'brown' do for me?

Arghh, it seems that UPS doesn't cater to residents of the south side of our fair city. I ordered some clothing online (mistake #1) which need to be exchanged for a smaller size. The particular store, "Young Marine" is not consistent with sizing. Prior experience should have taught me to enter the brick and mortar store to size said garments, then proceed to online ordering. I digress.

The package arrived in a timely manner and I didn't pay attention that the carrier was UPS. I filled out the necessary paperwork for the exchanged and noticed the fine print:

Return via UPS.

I proceed to let my fingers do the walking and check out ye olde yellow pages so as to conserve fuel and time. All of their stores are located in the northern part of town including the medical center which is nw. I work on the south side and reside in the sw part of town. Double whammy~zip, nada, zilch. UPS delivers to my residence and campus so I guess I will have to bring said parcel to work and beg the secretary to give it to the next delivery guy who shows up!

What is it about large corporations that don't want to do business with us? The south side FINALLY got a major bookseller to open a store and guess what? It does a brisk business!! At least the Toyota Corp. had the good sense to set up shop on the south side.

Ugh.

Had a package that was being delivered to me by FedEx. Unfortunately, I wasn't home at the time of delivery so they left a note saying that I could come by the local package care center and pick it up before 7PM.

A) I am currently staying in the middle of nowhere to the southeast of Austin.

B) The 'package care center' pickup location is located in NEW BRAUNFELS, almost a 45 minute drive.

C) The package was coming from San Antonio. If I was really going to drive 45 minutes to New Braunfels anyway, what the hell difference would an extra 20 minutes make?

D) Since I work until 6PM, there is nooooo way in hell I can make it to New Braunfels by 7PM unless I had access to an F-16.

And this was after I left a note that read: Dear FedEx, please deliver to the neighbor. Thank You, -Me

Heh. Joyful.

I never quite figured out why there was no love for the South and East sides. I will say that I passed through town on 90 yesterday and was happy to see that there had been some new growth and rebirth since I'd been there last.

Hopefully that will continue! :)
