Comfort, Texas 78013
Mom used to go antiquing/cutsie shopping there. They used to blare an air raid siren to announce to the city that it was lunch time.
Sun City, Texas 78628
Went there for a video gig. Highest number of times I've been ordered off of somebody's lawn.
Sunrise, Texas 76661
Passing through, nothing to see here.
Oatmeal, Texas 78605
Always wanted to go to the Oatmeal festival that they have but I've mostly just passed through the town between Burnet & Liberty Hill.
Orange, Texas (Not on original list)
Orange stinks. It was not exactly the "Welcome to Texas, y'all!" town that I would have picked if I was travelling west from Louisiana. I'm sure a lot of that is oil, but it stunk like a sewer the few times I've passed through.
Then again, Anthony, Texas isn't much of a "Howdy, y'all!" town either. Anthony is located on the opposite end of I-10 just as you cross into Texas from New Mexico. They have tons and tons of cattle stinking up the joint.
Nothing like the smell of farts to welcome one home when coming from either direction...
Sweetwater, Texas 79556
Out there in the middle of nowhere known as I-20. Hit this town, take a right and I know I'm on my way to Lubbock.
Athens, Texas 75751
Their claim to fame is being the "home of the hamburger," a disputed honour that is also claimed by two other cities.
Carthage, Texas
Stopped to pee there on my way to Shreveport during my East Texas tour.
Whitehouse, Texas 75791
I knew a guy from there. It's right near Lake Tyler and other than that, I've never had any good reason to go there.
Earth, Texas 79031
Went there just 'cause. Left there 'cause there's not a lot to see but cotton fileds and dirt.
Texas City, Texas 77590
Passed through between Clear Lake and Galveston. Remember it stinking of oil... and refineries.
Goliad, Texas
Passed through on back road to Port Aransas. Never had chance to really stop and look around since I usually passed through at night.
Gun Barrel City, Texas
Been there more times than I care to recall during visits to nearby Cedar Creek lake. The name amuses me though.
Staples, Texas 78670
During the SWT days, a colleague of mine had land that his family owned out there. Meh.
Texline, Texas 79087
This entrance to Tejas actually didn't have a strong odor to it. It's in the middle of nowhere, nestled amongst the rectangular counties in the Panhandle. I think I bought a soda there once.
Kermit, Texas
Really, really out in the middle of nowhere. We drove there from Monahans for no good reason other than to say we went through there to New Mexico. Because there was nothing to do in Monahans and the idea of crossing a state line seemed like something for my co-workers and I to do that didn't involve sitting around the motel and kicking dirt.
Winnie, Texas
Some good cajun food is to be found here as well as one of the vast caverns that help to make up the National Strategic Petroleum Reserve.
Dime Box, Texas
Just passing through...
Kilgore, Texas
Had a baaaaaad fajita experience there.
Muleshoe
Passed through between New Mexico and Lubbock. It's there, not square and there is nothing with which to compare.
Heh.
