Our first leg of our journey has ended. The results are in. 85% of the passengers passed the benchmark exam! Hip, hip, hooray. Guess maybe I did learn them something after all!
On the agenda for the next quarter:
Anglo colonization in Texas
The Texas Revolution
The Republic of Texas
Passengers will be required to participate in the National History Day contest. The theme: "Triumph and Tragedy." Need more details? Visit: www.nhd.org. Projects are so much fun, like having sharp sticks under your fingernails. But that’s my occupation to teach them about citing sources, plagiarism and the like. Completed handiworks are due 12-08-06 so they can be gussied up for the district wide History Fair.
On another note, my doctor says that my general health has deteriorated due to stress. In other words, I can’t volunteer or be volunteered for extra duties. He is adamant that if I don’t reduce stress levels in my life, “I am reducing my chances of surviving my underlying cancer.” Talk about a wake up call! I tend to forget that I am not as healthy as I would like to be but outward appearances are deceiving. My mantra must be: NO!
I can no longer worry about hurt feelings. My health has to be number one. If I don’t look after myself, no one else will.
Speaking of stress ~ In-service Day, tomorrow~ Friday the 13th!
Will be back soon,

ps. I happened to notice the 'paddle picture' on someone else's blog a few days after I posted it. Coincidence? I wonder?

"No," is one of the sweetest words in the English language--in any language--to the stressed body and weary soul. May it become one of your favorite words as you continue on your healing journey.
