Have you ever watched paint dry? If you haven’t, let me tell you it is quite a mind-numbing thing to do. Compared to what I did all week, I would rather choose the paint drying activity.
What do I mean? All I was permitted to do during testing was walk back and forth down the rows of desks. I was to ensure that the students didn’t mark their answer documents incorrectly or gasp! peek into the next day’s test. After three hours of pacing, the muscles in my shoulders and back started to tighten up. A quick lunch break wasn’t enough to loosen me up. At the end of the day we were to turn in our materials and make sure all things balanced. All of our materials were in plastic bins which were quite heavy and of course NO ONE is allowed to help. Many people wanted to assist but they had been warned not to touch them under penalty of death. The upside? My upper body was getting quite a workout since there were 22 booklets with about 160 pages apiece in my tub. Who says there is no physical activity in schools?
The students from Teacher X’s class were happy to have me as their proctor. Their testing environment was a relaxed one; I brought them a box of tissue since he believes the brown towels from the restrooms should suffice. Students thought the test was ok and they all THANKED me for my time with them. They are in no hurry for Teacher X to return!
I truly miss my own passengers and I didn’t realize how much until last night. I was leaving campus as the 7th grade track team was heading for the locker room. They saw me and mobbed my car. It was an incredible sight to see; I believe they miss me a little bit. We shall see what happens on Monday.
The results should be here in about three weeks ~ I know that I did all that I could to ensure their success!
~b.a.~
Ps. Teacher X did not take care of my room. Due to his negligence, a treasured item on my desk got broken. He allowed students to be @ my desk and they KNOW that is forbidden. Accidents happen but he doesn’t allow anyone @ his desk! Whiskey-Tango-Foxtrot? Enough of the tirade - let the weekend begin!

I can hardly wait for our own state testing to start in about two weeks. Ugh!
