Hope ya'll remembered to "spring forward" your clocks, reprogram the VCR, coffee pot, etc. not to mention the clock in your car! At least the cable company and the cellular phone folks did their part and updated for you. I wonder how many members of our congregation will be a bit tardy for Mass?
Being a morning person, I don't mind it being pitch black dark when I arise from my slumber. I can leave campus when it is still daylight and squeeze in a walk or a swim when I get home. NO more excuses!!
Is there a way we can either eliminate DST or just keep it as our 'standard' time??? If any of you want to pontificate on this weighty matter, be my guest and comment here or on your own sites.

I have never been a fan of DST. The theory that we conserve electricity by adjusting the so-called "daylight hours" is not one where I've seen any conclusive evidence of its effectiveness.
The query I'd like to pose is this:
How much energy, time and human effort do we utilize to make the adjustments necessary for observing DST?
Think about it.
After Congress moved the DST start/end dates, how many hours were spent by IT departments everywhere to make the adjustments in software, etc.?
How many combined days worth of our lives were spent physically adjusting clocks and watches?
Continuing on the latest adjustment, how many combined days were spent trying to argue with our VCR's, TV's, computers and whatnot (that were built in the previous years to the adjustment) that yes, Virginia, DST really did start early this year?
For myself, yesterday was a systems nightmare. I was having difficulty synching the time on my computer with the time on the web server where QTV is hosted. Since there was a time descrepancy, I couldn't upload, download or work on my website until I could match the two!
Had to have wasted a good three and a half hours between frigging with my stuff, consulting my host's technical support and having a Dr. Pepper.
Especially now that DST lasts longer, is it even necessary to mess with the clocks anymore? We should either adopt the DST "hour later" year round or just scrap the whole idea altogether.
It may have been well and good for Ben Franklin, but adjusting for Daylight Saving Time twice a year is the biggest waste of time for me.
Hey BA!
I tried as you suggested on the Corner!
Great post and response R!
