Nostalgia

For me, the holiday season has begun! Why, you may ask? I have just finished viewing the one program that sets the standard for holiday viewing, A Charlie Brown Christmas. A mere youngster when this first premiered in 1966, my brothers and I have always watched it. In fact, my "baby" brother called to remind me that it was on.

This thirty minute cartoon gets the message across ~ the REAL meaning of Christmas. The entire Peanuts gang has a part from Snoopy's overly decorated doghouse to Charlie Brown's scraggly tree. The best part is the closing when they are all singing: Hark the Herald Angels Sing! I will never outgrow this yuletide tradition.

Can't wait for my other favourites: Frosty the Snowman, and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer to be broadcast.

First, I guess I should mention that I'm rather intimidated by the whole "pearls of wisdom" thing. I daresay, I never considered any commentary of mine to be "pearls of wisdom."

I smiled when I read your entry. It constitutes evidence of a "generation gap." I was already a bit too old, a wee bit too cynical when "A Charlie Brown Christmas" first appeared (although I do enjoy it). My influences date further back to...yes..."It's a Wonderful Life."

For what it's worth, here's a link to thoughts I posted about Christmas last year:

Christmas, for most of us, will always be a uniquely personal experience. I'm glad your's is a happy one!

Although it's a wee bit early, allow me to wish you a Merry Christmas!
